The climate is of the monsoon type with a dry season lasting about four months from December-March. The temperature is moderated under the influence of the ocean or altitude. High productivity of the soil and heavy rainfall have formed luxuriant forests in the State. As might be expected, this vegetation supports varied and magnificent fauna.
