SILENT VALLEY WILDLIFE SANCTUARYEstablished in 1984,Kerala's second national park.
Geographic layout
Area : A stretch of land decending from the Nilgiri plateau of Tamil Nadu to the plains of Kerala,Silent valley is 32kms to the north of Mannarghat.
CREDIBLE FEATURES : The most valuble gene reserve of the country.This luxuriant tropical wet evergreen cliff forests with lofty trees,rare species and progenitors of cultivated species of pulses and spices is a rich abode of rare plants and animals housing Elephants, Tigers, Flying squirrels and Lion-Tailed macacques along with rare species of wild orchids.
Tourists can gain acess to the park from the nearest railhead of Palghat which is 75kms away.
