PEECHI - VAZHANI WILDLIFE SANCTUARYEstablished in 1958 and very close to habitation.
Geographic layoutArea : 125sq.kms and lies in the catchment areas of Peechi and Vazhani dams in Trichur Dist.
CREDIBLE FEATURES : This moist deciduous type forest is of the open depleted type with poor mammalian wealth but rich in numerous ground fowl like the Pea fowl and the Jungle foul.
The Kerala Engineering Research Institute and the Peechi gardens are prominent features.
Tourists can avail accomodation facility at rest houses in Peechi,the head quarters of the sanctuary 15kms by road from Trichur,the nearest rail head.
