IDDUKI WILDLIFE SANCTUARYEstablished in 1976 above Idukki arch dam.
Geographic layout
Area : 70sq.kms
CREDIBLE FEATURES : The flora and fauna is similar to that of Thekaddy's. Although Tiger,Sloth bear,Leopard and Gaur is seldom spotted,Sambar and Elephant herds are seen quite often.
Tourists have boarding and lodging facilities at Kulamavu and Vazhathope in the Inspection Bunglows of the Kerala State Electricty Board. This sanctuary is 164kms by road from Kochi,which is the nearest Air port.Idukki is also accessible from Kottayam and Thekaddy.
