| During the reign of the "Thiruvathamkoor Maha Raja",Thiruvalla was a place belonging to the kollam division .In olden days this place was known as Sri- Vallabhapuram and later on change to Thiruvallabhapuram, which then evolved to the present day name "Thiruvalla". In olden days the main road was Muthoor,Mannamkarachera,Erankavu road. Water transport was also available at that time from Chandakadavu. Merchants bought their products from the Ramapuram market and from the chandakadavu (Thiruvalla) and ferry it to trade centers in places like Alapuzha ,Kochi etc. At that time the main town was situated in between the present Anchelkutti and Erankavu. The government offices where situated near the Sreevalabha temple. After the M.C road was opened the main towns where linked with roads.The old town location was changed to the M.C road. Thiruvalla is on the western border of The Pathanamthitta District. Formerly some areas of present Changanacherry were also parts of Thiruvalla. Now the boundaries of the taluk are Varattar Bridge on the south, Lappalam on the north, Pullad on the east and Edathua on the west. |
