Thiruvalla is on the western border of Pathanamthitta District. Formerly some areas of present Changanacherry were parts of Thiruvalla. Now the boundaries of the taluk are Varattar Bridge on the south, Lappalam on the north, Pullad on the east , Edathua  on the west.
